Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is a federal law which establishes standards for collection of delinquent debt. It establishes and identifies whether a debt collection activity is an abusive collection practice. The act governs the frequency, time and place of contact with the debtors and the content of the communication.

Connecticut General Statutes Chapter 669 establishes the additional requirements of the State of Connecticut regarding collections in this state whether related to initial contact with debtors or court procedural requirements.

Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act (HIPPA) establishes the rules regarding a patient’s medical information and the level of privacy required in handling those records.

LOONEY Law requires additional standards on hospitals when dealing with patient’s financial problems.
